The Get Around Crew members – Ken Barrachina, Seyid “Tony” Hosseini, Zach Dallas and Sam Plourde – came together at the Ability and Beyond Day Program in Bethel, Connecticut, when the four were recovering from traumatic brain injuries.
Now the group has turned the program’s healing powers into a new CD, which dropped Sept. 12. The new EP, “Joint Venture,” features something for everyone, including country, hard rock and rap. The rap song is especially personal to Dallas, as he raps about his brain injury and how he came back from it. “The one thing I want people to know is that the world is full of possibilities, but you have to …make yourself…be who you really want to be,” he says.
The group used prerecorded parts or “loops” to create the musical compositions. Once the music was there, the four assembled the words for each song with vocal support from Amber and Peter Sullivan.
The Ability Beyond ABI Day Program was formed in December 2018 to provide individuals with personalized learning opportunities, projects and community outings.
