A Personal Note from Doris Sassower

Love it and thank you both, Jane and Georgette!!

A few minor edits and add-its of some pertinent facts and comments I believe of general interest.

Soundview Manor is actually more than four glorious park-like acres (regrettably, the photos of our gorgeous gardens were cropped), with a frontage of 374 feet, a depth of more than three City blocks. The mansion, which is the centerpiece of the property, is over 9000 square feet, including covered terraces, balconies and garage.

Its listing on the National and State Registers of Historic Places is a triple honor -- the only privately-owned home in the City of White Plains to enjoy such distinction in the lifetime of the owner, still in occupancy.

"In honor of the historic importance of Soundview Manor," the Westchester County Historical Society featured my article about the genesis of Soundview Manor Historic Soundview Manor and Its Irish Roots in the current Fall/Winter quarterly issue of its Westchester Historian Magazine.

I have been working, pro bono, since 1993, as co-founder and president of the Center for Judicial Accountability, Inc. (CJA), a national, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization working to protect the public interest in the integrity of our judicial selection and judicial discipline processes so as to ensure that only the most qualified lawyers become, and remain, judges.

In 2006, I was honored and profiled in the book, "Feminists Who Changed America: 1963 to 1975."

For the details as to my “dispute” with the City, see the SAVE THE MANOR link on the SoundviewManor.com website.

    GET OFF THE PHONE

April is a great time for talking about the foolish things we do. I’ll go first. I’m such a fool that I’ll lie on a massage table for an excruciating hour as a masseuse gently sloshes oil over my body...

    IMAGE ISN'T EVERYTHING

With more mags retouching pix to the point of transformation and more kids tuned to the media, young girls in particular are getting a dangerous message about body image.
